Why Stress Kills Passion (And A Few Ways to Take the Pressure Off)
I get asked this a lot: "What do I do when my libido is gone and life is just too busy?"
It is normal to lose touch with sexual passion when you are overwhelmed or carrying a lot of stress. When life demands too much, your body treats pleasure as a low priority.
Even pornography often stops working. The real issue is exhaustion and being disconnected from your body, not a lack of visuals. Porn might give a quick spark, but it doesn't help you feel present in your senses.

The Weight of "Fixing Yourself" Trying to force passion or fix yourself like a machine just creates more tension and guilt. Wanting to change "so I can be a better person" is a heavy standard to carry.
If you are looking for practical places to start shifting this:
Drop the Performance Goal: If you are trying to connect with a partner, take sex off the table. Focus purely on skin-to-skin touch or a simple massage (or vice versa) without any expectations. If you are exploring this solo, remove the pressure of an "outcome" and just focus on physical sensation.
Build Anticipation and Play: Shift the energy into daily life. Build anticipation through communication, light touch, flirting, and allowing yourself to have fun without needing to perform.
Calm Your Body and Mind First: Before you can drop into intimacy, your body needs to feel safe enough to let go of stress. A simple tool is box breathing:
Inhale slowly through your nose for 4.
Hold for 4.
Exhale smoothly through your mouth for 4.
Hold for 4.
Do 4 to 6 rounds—or more—to move your brain out of problem-solving mode.
I don't know all the details of your situation, but giving yourself permission to just feel—instead of always doing—and being okay with times in life when your energy is low goes a long way. It helps you build confidence and feel real passion without needing to perform.
And as always, remember to talk openly with your partner about how you are feeling, and check in on how they are feeling too. (Or, if you are navigating this on your own, check in honestly with yourself about what your body actually needs right now.)
